About Us DITS - From University to the Spin-Off

Our History

DITS S.r.l is a Spin-off Sapienza Università di Roma, born from the twenty-year experience of a large research group in Railway Engineering formed within the DICEA (Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering) also thanks to the doctoral school in Infrastructures and Transportation. The company mission is to create a bridge between the research developed in the university environment and its application in the railway world, in order to improve its quality in terms of safety, reliability, environmental sustainability and economic efficiency.

DITS transforms academic research into high-tech products and services to support organizations, infrastructure managers, railway companies and industries operating in the railway sector. Multi-disciplinarity is a key aspect of the Company, in which 15 engineers with skills in the mechanical, electrical, civil, transport and environmental fields work. DITS supports the railway world in the following sectors:

Mechanics
Safety and operation
Transportation engineering

Furthermore, thanks to many years of experience in university teaching, DITS designs and implements training and professional development courses at all levels.

Social Structure

The shareholder structure is composed by Lectures and former Lectures of Sapienza (Professors, Researchers and PhD) and Hitachi Italy & Europe, one of the main companies in the world in the production of rolling stock and railway signalling systems.

Spin-Off Management

DITS is managed by a Board of Directors composed of the Chief Executive Officer who also assumes the “interim” role of President and two Main Board Members.

The coordination of the works is guaranteed by a Technical Director and by the Area Managers: Mechanics, Operations and Safety and Transport Engineering.
